About Me

Laurel Bailey Ferchoff-Sander is a recent graduate from NAIT’s Architectural Technology program, as well as a graduate from the BFA Theatre Design program at the University of Alberta. She also hopes to obtain her MFA in the coming years of her academic career. She has had the opportunity to design numerous shows, hone her skills as a projection designer and props-master, as well as become familiar with the in-depth technical aspects of productions. She has also been trained in numerous technical programs, such as Autodesk Revit, Sketchup, AutoCAD, Twinmotion, Enscape, Resolume Arena 6, Sketchbook Pro, ArKaos, and more.

In addition to her experience in the world of fine art and theatre design, Laurel is currently pursuing a career in Architectural Technology. She has been honored to explore this more technical side of design-related work, and she is currently working alongside a diverse team of technologists, architects, and designers at JTAS (Joseph Tkalcic Architecture Studio Ltd.)

Laurel has designed set, lighting, and costumes for several realized productions throughout the duration of her academic career, including A Bend in the Road, and the U of A BLT productions of Antigone, After Miss Julie, and Harold Pinter’s, The Birthday Party. As well as being proficient in scenic painting, prop construction, set, costume, and lighting design, Laurel B. Ferchoff-Sander has also completed production designs for numerous shows in studio, such as Richard III, The Bear/The Proposal, Taking Sides, the Komagata Maru Incident, One Flea Spare, Sweeney Todd the Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Angels in America.

On top of her other design experience, Laurel was chosen as the first BFA student to complete a set design on the Timm’s Center for the Arts stage for the University’s production of Silence in early 2019. She looks forward to being involved in future productions at the university, as well as working in collaboration with outside companies in the coming years of her design career.
